Pension calculator for UAE payroll.

Enter a contribution salary to see the GPSSA split between employee, employer and the government share, under whichever scheme the employee was registered on.

The salary GPSSA contributions are calculated on, as registered for the employee.

Employee nationality

GPSSA covers UAE nationals. Expatriates are not enrolled at all - their equivalent entitlement is the end-of-service gratuity.

When was the employee registered?

The 2023 law did not replace the 1999 one. It applies to nationals registered from 31 October 2023; everyone already registered stayed on the earlier scheme, so most established employers run both.

FAQ

Questions about UAE pension contributions.

Do expatriate employees pay into GPSSA?

No. GPSSA covers UAE nationals only, and expatriates are not enrolled at any rate. Their equivalent entitlement accrues as end-of-service gratuity instead, which is calculated on a different basis entirely.

Which pension law applies to an Emirati employee?

It depends on when they were registered. Federal Decree-Law No. 57 of 2023 applies to nationals registered on or after 31 October 2023. Anyone already registered before that stays under the earlier law, so most established employers are running both schemes side by side.

What are the contribution rates under the 2023 law?

The insured employee pays 11% and the employer 15%. For private-sector nationals earning under AED 20,000, the government pays 2.5% of the employer's share, so the employer's own cost is lower than the headline rate.

Is there a maximum salary for UAE pension contributions?

Yes. The private-sector contribution account salary is capped at AED 70,000 under the 2023 law, so a salary above that contributes the same as one at the ceiling.

Does Magnar calculate GPSSA automatically in payroll?

Yes. Magnar applies the correct scheme per employee on every pay run, keeps nationals and expatriates on their respective entitlements, and posts the result to your ERP from the same cycle.

See it inside a real pay run.

Magnar applies the right scheme per employee, every month.
