Overtime calculator for Saudi payroll.

Enter a salary and the hours actually worked to see the overtime rate under Article 107, the hours that qualify, and what the month costs in total.

The contractual basic wage, before allowances.

Housing, transport and other regular cash allowances.

Total hours worked, including the overtime ones.

Article 107 says "wage" without settling which. Computing on basic alone is the cheaper reading and a documented cause of underpayment claims; the total wage is the reading that more often survives one.

Period

During Ramadan a Muslim employee works up to 6 hours a day or 36 a week, with no reduction in pay - so overtime starts earlier, on the same salary.

FAQ

Questions about Saudi overtime.

How is overtime calculated in Saudi Arabia?

Overtime is paid at the normal hourly rate plus 50% of it, so 150% of the hourly wage, under Article 107 of the Labour Law. The hourly rate itself comes from the monthly salary divided by the standard monthly hours - not by a flat four-week month, which overstates it.

What counts as overtime?

Anything beyond 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week. Because overtime is settled per pay period, a month of ordinary 8-hour days is not overtime however the days happen to fall.

How does Ramadan change overtime?

For Muslim employees the working day drops to 6 hours, or 36 a week, and the salary does not drop with it. The threshold at which overtime begins moves earlier while the pay stays the same, so the same hours produce more overtime in Ramadan than in any other month.

Is overtime based on basic salary or total salary?

Article 107 says "wage" without settling it, and both readings are in use. Computing the hourly rate on basic salary alone is the cheaper one and a documented cause of underpayment claims; the full contractual wage, including regular allowances, is the reading that more often survives a labour claim. This calculator lets you see both rather than choosing for you.

Does Magnar calculate overtime automatically in payroll?

Yes. Attendance feeds the pay run directly, so overtime is derived from hours actually recorded rather than entered by hand, with the Ramadan threshold applied automatically in the right period and the result posted to your ERP from the same cycle.
